AnotherRegionsBankcustomer, amedical servicesfirm,
turned to thebank forhelpwith its cashflow. Byprovidingan
U.S. Export-Importworkingcapital line, thebankwasable to
lendagainst80%of thecompany’s international receivables,
solving their cashflowproblem.
Anoil field serviceclient thatmanufacturesequipmentover-
seasand imports thosecomponentsback to theUnitedStates,
uses thebank for foreignexchange. Thecompanyhadhistori-
callypaid theirprimary supplier indollars. But,workingwith the
bank, thecompanyasked the supplier forquotes inbothdollars
and local currency. It turnedout that substantial savingswas
achievedbypaying in local currency rather than inU.S. dollars.
The futurebelongs tocompanies that canexert their com-
petitiveadvantage in theglobalmarketplace.World trade in
“services” isestimated todouble from$3 trillion to$6 trillion
between2010-2020.During the same timeperiod,merchandise
tradehadbeenprojected tomore thandouble, from$14 trillion
to$35 trillion.

• Export Financing. RegionspartnerswithSBAandexport credit
insurers toprovideadvancesagainstboth receivablesand
inventory, and toensurecollectionof receivables. Lettersof
credit alsocanprovide forguaranteedpayment, anda source
offinancing.
• ForeignCurrencyHedging. Thebankcanhelpcompanies
analyze the tradeoffbetweendenominating foreignpurchases
and sales in local currencyvsU.S. dollars. ThisenablesU.S.
importersandexporters toexecuteappropriate, cost-effective
hedgesagainst foreigncurrencyexposures.
